Mr. D's classroom is an exciting place to be a kid who loves to learn!

Dennis Millay (Mr. D) received the Foundation's Focus Award in Technology in May of 2013. Mr. D purchased several Lego simple machine building kits . . .

Legos, you say?

Well, these aren't your ordinary Legos. These legos are specially designed to help kids understand how simple machines are constructed and how they work. These logos are VERY expensive ($200 per set) and Mr. D expressed his gratitude to the Foundation for making this exceptional technology opportunity available to all of his students.

The day Mr. D hosted our photo session, his 3rd grade students were building fishing rods with working gears! Mr. D not only teaches science, but incorporates team work, leadership and communication into his curriculum.

Students gathered around Mr. D . . .

. . . to see what the day's assignment involved. Mr. D divided students into groups and gave them their assigment:

You are to follow the directions in the instruction booklet.

You are to take turns with each team member adding one piece to the fishing rod.

You will be evaluated to see how well you performed your engineering project.
